Hi, we’re Little Sister.

Little Sister is an all-day café & bakery serving food & pastries influenced by Puerto Rican, Latin American and tropical flavors. Our teeny-tiny, casual & lively café is perfect for a mimosa-soaked weekend brunch, sitting for coffee & a book, grabbing a filling lunch, and enjoying tapas & wine in the evening. Whether you have just a few minutes to dash in & out with a latte & empanada or feel like sitting down to fork & knife a meal (we hear you!), you’ll find something on the menu for you.

Everything we serve is made from scratch in our small kitchen, down to our breads, pastries and natural juice drinks. We are proud to serve Puerto Rican espresso from Gustos Coffee and freshly brewed coffee from Providence’s Bolt Coffee. We are proud of our identities as Puerto Rican, Latino and immigrant and our cooking reflects that. We are inspired by the tropical comfort foods we cherish from our childhood in Puerto Rico, flavors picked up in our travels along the way, and the seasonal bounty of our adopted New England.

When you’re here, you’re at your friend’s house eating delicious home cooking. Please enjoy our colorful décor, original pieces of art, and fun Latin-inspired beats coming from the speakers. You know what we do: a little bit of this and that, all delicious and fun!

we really care about Sustainability!

One of our core values at Little Sister is embracing resourcefulness to reduce our carbon footprint. Some of our practices may come off as quirky… but we really believe every little bit counts and we are married to making a difference!

  • We have fully divested from single-use plastic packaging. All our packaging is paper- & wood-based.

  • We limit takeout choices & encourage you to enjoy your food here! Eating off of plates with silverware and drinking out of cups helps us cut back on the trash we produce here & away.

  • We compost all our food waste (& yours!), napkins, coffee grounds & other organic matter. Our local composting partner is Earth Care Farm in Charlestown, RI and in true Rhody fashion, we’re on a first-name basis with our composting crew!

  • We give our ingredients a second life and look for ways to put food scraps to work. Marvel at our mosaic-like Dulce de Leche French Toast, made from our housemade bread “butts” and ask for a taste of our house vin d’orange, made with spent white wine & the skins of juiced oranges.

  • We source locally!

  • We source locally and grow our own ingredients. We work with New England farmers & fishers to source a portion of our ingredients. Our urban home garden right in the city is incredibly fruitful in the summer and produces salad greens, herbs, tomatoes & more for our kitchen.

  • We serve 100% Puerto Rican coffee. Grown & roasted in Puerto Rico by Gustos Coffee Co., our coffee travels a shorter distance than most, even when compared to locally-roasted beans (which may come from Central & South America, Africa, all the way to the Pacific Islands!). We also get to support the agriculture industry of our homeland <3

WHO WE ARE

Little Sister is a project dreamed up and built by husband & wife team Milena & Darcy. They live right in the neighborhood, and wanted to add a little color & tropical energy to the Hope Street scene! Milena brings her Puerto Rican heritage to the menu and Darcy makes the prettiest lattes with a smile.
